This campaign is critical because DV impacts so many individuals and has lasting effects in communities across the city. While it is one of the most under-reported crimes, in 2024 there were:
- 249,077 domestic incident reports called into the NYPD.
- 89,949 domestic violence-related calls to NYC's 24-Hour Hope Hotline.
- 57,656 visits to the five New York City Family Justice Centers.
Join us this month:
- Show your support on NYC Go Purple Day (Oct 16) by wearing purple, sharing photos, and tagging @nycENDGBV using #DVAM2025 and #NYCGoPurple.
- Follow @nycENDGBV for campaign updates and other information all month long.

Finally, remember that if you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or gender-based violence, help is available:
- Call 311 or text 311-692 and ask to be connected to the NYC Family Justice Center in your borough (or the one where you feel safest), Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Find resources and support in NYC by searching New York City's HOPE Resource Directory online.
- Call New York City's 24-Hour Hope Hotline at 800-621-HOPE (4673) for immediate safety planning, shelter assistance, and other resources. TTY: 866-604-5350.
- In an emergency or to report a crime, call or text 911. Please note this will lead to a response by law enforcement.
Awareness and participation are the greatest tools we have in interrupting domestic and gender-based violence, and we hope you can join us in sharing information and taking action across New York City.
Thank you,
Commissioner Saloni Sethi
