Dear Excelsior Preparatory High School Family,
You are receiving this message because of an incident that took place this afternoon within two blocks of the Springfield Educational campus. At approximately 3:30, an adult male was seen with a gun inside the Springfield Gardens Deli and then outside walking on Springfield Blvd by a number of students from our campus. We alerted the police and enacted a shelter in protocol. We quickly brought those students who were outside in, and prevented those that were inside from leaving until the police arrived. We waited until the police assured us that the perimeter was safe and then lifted the shelter in.
