AP Seminar Term 1 P4-EES21X_1 (Period 4) 2022 1 Assignments

Here are the steps to earn full credit for this assignment:

1- Watch this ENTIRE video. The first 4 minutes explains some questions that are important to ask yourself as you revise your IRR. The rest of the video shows the teacher actually reviewing two sample papers. The sample papers are provided for you to read. READ THEM!

2- Answer this question: What is ONE TANGIBLE THING you have changed in your IRR as a result of watching this video? Answer in ONE PARAGRAPH. Short 1-2 sentence responses will not be sufficient. Specific reference to a spot in this video as it relates to your own IRR revising experience, will give you more credit! Make sure you actually do make the changes you describe!

Please note that this video explicitly reviews everything we have covered in this class. It is great to hear it from someone else!

THIS is where your IRR should be uploaded, and continue to be worked on. Feel free to use the IRR OUTLINE documents provided to help guide your writing. You should also use the "They Say, I Say" material provided earlier this year. Due dates will change according to deadlines, so look out for them.

This document provides space for writing about 8 sources. I am requiring that three sources are evaluated using this sheet by the due date listed. You may choose to create research notes for ALL of your sources, to make it easier to incorporate each source into your IRR, sort of like a checklist.

Work with your group to find an article and evaluate it using RAVEN. 

1- Choose ONE group member to make a copy of this sheet and share it, so that every group member can work in the document simultaneously. 
2- Choose ONE group member to upload the sheet on behalf of the group. 
3- Every group member must indicate who uploaded the sheet. 
🔮 Only ONE sheet will be graded for the group, so it is not necessary for every group member to upload the sheet.

Conduct research to find an article that you can share with your group, to develop your TMP OR IRR. Explain how this article may be useful, and specify if it acknowledges a specific lens.

Do not forget to state your GROUP (TMP) AND INDIVIDUAL (IRR) research questions in your response, and do not forget to link the article.

Rewrite this sentence and then finish it in your response.

Use these slides to complete today's activities. 

1- "Sample Research Questions" The whole class can write on this slideshow- choose one group member to do so. Provide feedback on the sample research questions by answering the questions directly on each slide.
2- " PD 4 TMP ..." Each student gets a copy of this, but only one student per group should complete and submit. Indicate which group member is submitting on behalf of the group.

Conduct research to find an article that you can share with your group, to develop your TMP. Explain how this article may be useful, and specify if you think it might be useful for a specific person in your group, or if it acknowledges a specific lens.

Do not forget to state your research question in your response! Your RQ better be the same as your other group members!

1- Find one academic source to use within your MOCK IWA. Complete the MLA works cited entry, including all information needed for your works cited page when the time comes. (Most databases have a "cite" feature- click on that and poof! All the info you need!)
2- Write two sentences about this source. 
3- Extract three quotes that may be helpful within your MOCK IWA.

Use the two attached materials to help you answer this question. You can use a version of these sentence frames in your own response. You should discuss all 7 rubric rows in your response.

In class on December 7, we engaged in a QFT activity to generate possible research questions inspired by the stimulus materials. This activity was followed by a brainstorm session, and was meant to inspire research interests.

Write a paragraph where you develop a connecting theme among TWO of the stimulus materials. Cite evidence from each text to support the connection you establish. 

We drafted this in class on Monday, December 5. This is due on Tuesday, December 6.

Use the attached infographic to respond in complete sentences. Why should you include peer-reviewed / scholarly work in your papers?

Think about the writing moves discussed in class on 11/29. Which one did you use in your IRR? Go back, read your IRR, and describe the "move" you made in your paper.

This assignment will be your first group project, which will be graded as a group. The rubric is attached, and the due date for BOTH SECTIONS is 8am on Wednesday, September 28. One person per group must submit their slides, and write in the comment, all group member names. The guidelines are as follows: 
Create an original claim about “The Giving Tree”. (Also known as a thesis statement) Think: What is the thing you are going to prove about the story?
Develop a line of reasoning that will help support your claim in various ways, using at least two lenses.
Design slides which you will present to the class in a 2 minute presentation.
One person in your group must submit the slides on behalf of the group. This person will indicate all group members in the private comment of the submission. All other group members will indicate in the private comment who submitted on their behalf.

Use your drafts and your experience with the STAR editing strategy, to type a final draft of the writing you completed during the first two days of school. Use the attached word document to complete your final draft.
