Enrollment

The high school application will open during the week of January 24, 2022 and the deadline to apply will be March 1, 2022. 

Families can access MySchools using the family-facing site, myschools.nyc. Without logging in, families can use the family-facing MySchools site to search for schools and programs. Just go to https://www.myschools.nyc/en/schools/high-school/ to search and learn about schools and programs.

To log in and start the admissions process for their child, parents/guardians need two things:

  1. An email address. Parents/guardians can create an email account online for free.
  2. Child’s mySchools Welcome Letter (Your current Guidance Counselor can print this letter for you)

  • Some families refer to these as “PIN” letters.
  • In October 2021, the Office of Student Enrollment printed and mailed a welcome letter to each public school 8th grade student, including students who attend charter schools. (Welcome Letters went in the mail the week of October 13th and may take some time to get to all families)
  • The letters were printed and mailed to each family’s home address according to ATS. The letters include each child’s account creation code (also known as “PIN code”) and instructions for families to get started in the family-facing MySchools site (myschools.nyc). For security, these printed letters will not include the student ID number (OSIS number).
  • Remember: Welcome Letters for high school admissions are not the same as the letters families receive to log into their NYC Schools Account (NYCSA). Welcome Letters help families log into the family-facing MySchools site (myschools.nyc) so that they can participate in high school admissions. Letters that families receive regarding their NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) are for logging into a separate system that is not associated with high school admissions.
Excelsior Prep has two admission programs available:
  • Q42X - Gateway Honors Program. This is a science intensive track available to interested students with a B+ or higher average. Humanities honor roll students, can be enrolled.  
  • Q42W - Humanities Program. This is our typical high school track aimed at graduating students in the customary 4 year schedule, while providing opportunities for Advanced Placement and College Now classes.

  • Your child's high school admissions welcome letter includes their unique MySchools account creation code. In October, welcome letters were mailed to families of current 8th grade public DOE and charter school students. 
  • All 8th grade students (and first-time 9th grade students, if interested) can get a copy of their welcome letter from their current school.
